Technician – Safety Product Testing
Kettering, Northamptonshire
Up to £26,000 per annum
Full Time | 37.5 Hours per Week
Interaction Recruitment are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a leading independent testing, inspection and certification organisation for a Technician to join their Safety Product Testing team in Kettering.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established organisation at the forefront of product testing and certification, working with a wide range of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) used across multiple industries worldwide.
The Role
Working within the Safety Product Testing department, you will primarily support the motorcycle garment testing area, carrying out testing on jackets, trousers, race suits, gloves and impact protectors. Over time, you will also gain exposure to other PPE testing disciplines.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Conducting routine physical testing of PPE in accordance with European and International standards
2. Operating specialist test equipment and accurately recording results
3. Preparing samples for testing
4. Maintaining laboratory cleanliness and organisation
5. Managing sample storage and handling
6. Supporting Technologists during customer visits
7. Assisting with testing activities both on-site and occasionally at customer facilities

About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Essential Requirements
8. GCSE Grade C/Level 4 or above in Maths, English and Science
9. Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
10. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
11. Strong written and verbal communication skills
12. Good organisational and time management abilities
13. The ability to work independently and as part of a team
14. A reliable, motivated and enthusiastic approach to work
15. The ability to remain focused whilst carrying out repetitive testing tasks
Desirable Skills & Experience
16. Previous laboratory experience
17. Experience working with PPE products
18. Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook and advanced Excel functions
19. Understanding of quality management systems
20. A willingness to learn, develop and adapt within a technical environment
