Job Title: Cabling Engineer (Fiber and Patching)
Shift Patterns: Days and Nights available, 7 days a week
Shift Duration: 12 hours
Rates:
* £340 per 12-hour day shift
* £435 per 12-hour night shift
Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Cabling Engineer to join our team. The role will involve working with fiber optic cables, performing patching, and providing support in various data center environments. The successful candidate will have previous experience in a similar role, exposure to data centers, and a solid understanding of fiber optic cabling and patching.
Key Responsibilities:
* Perform cabling installation and patching in data center environments.
* Install, terminate, and test fiber optic cables.
* Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on cabling infrastructure.
* Ensure all cabling installations meet relevant standards and industry best practices.
* Coordinate with other teams to ensure smooth project delivery and minimal downtime.
* Maintain accurate records of cabling installations, patching, and other activities.
* Adhere to all health and safety regulations while working on-site.
* Work effectively within a team, ensuring communication and collaboration are maintained.
Requirements:
* ECS CARD or CSCS CARD Essential
* Previous experience as a Cabling Engineer, ideally with exposure to data centers.
* Strong knowledge of fiber optic cabling and patching.
* Hands-on experience with both fiber optic and copper cabling systems.
* Familiarity with industry standards and best practices for data center cabling.
* Ability to work effectively in both day and night shifts (flexible hours).
* Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose cabling issues quickly and accurately.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
* A proactive approach to health and safety.
* Availability to work 7 days a week, including weekends and holidays as required.
* Previous experience with networking equipment and server rack installation.
* Knowledge of data center operations and safety protocols.
