Community Safety Officer x 2
Fixed Term Contract to 31/3/27 (may be extended for 12 months subject to funding extension approval).
We are looking for Community Safety Officers to join Wirral Council’s busy 24‑hour/365‑day Emergency Control Centre (ECC) as part of the Council's commitment to community and public safety.
Responsibilities
* Proactively monitor Council’s expanding network of public realm and premises CCTV cameras.
* Respond to Emergency Help Point activations.
* Respond to fire and intruder alarm activations in Council buildings.
* Monitor lone workers and provide call handling for the Council’s emergency duty social care teams outside of office hours.
* Act as single point of out‑of‑hours contact for the Council for public safety matters and activation of Council Emergency Plans.
* Deploy to public safety incidents, including anti‑social behaviour and crime locations, and operate a CCTV van where required.
* Audit Public Rescue Equipment and water safety signage.
* Provide security presence at Council meetings.
* Support local communities as a visible presence, providing reassurance, advice and guidance.
* Work closely with internal colleagues and external partners including Merseyside Police, Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service and HM Coastguard.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Both Security Industry Authority (SIA) licences for Public Space Surveillance (CCTV operation) and Security Guarding/Door Supervisor.
* Training will be provided if applicants do not already hold the required licences; this is an essential part of the role.
* Current driving licence is essential.
* Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Enhanced level and Non‑Police Personnel Level 2 (NPPV2F) clearance required.
* Ability to work the full shift rota, which includes day, afternoon/evening and night shifts.
