The Role

We are looking to recruit a Senior Nurse / Midwife at University Hospital Monklands.

The successful candidates will have the following responsibilities:

1. Professional and clinical lead for nursing/midwifery services, within area of responsibility and as required across NHS Lanarkshire.
2. Expert practitioner providing professional leadership, support and advice within the multi-disciplinary team across NHS Lanarkshire.
3. Lead the development and implementation of a programme of clinical audit and research activity within the context of clinical governance.
4. Responsible for auditing, evaluating, implementing and monitoring clinical standards, and give advice, support, and contribute to the education of staff, as appropriate, within area of responsibility.
5. Carry out all relevant forms of nursing/midwifery care. Demonstrate procedures to and supervise registered and/or unregistered staff, as well as student nurses.

Fixed Term or Secondment - 1 year / Band 8A / Full Time / 37 hours

What we'll need you to bring

13. Registered Nurse/Midwife with valid NMC Registration
14. Educated to/working towards/operating at Masters Level
15. Be able to demonstrate knowledge of NHS Scotland’s Leadership Qualities framework or equivalent framework
16. Management knowledge gained through experience and continuous professional development
17. Professional, leadership and managerial experience within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
18. Extensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the health care agenda.
19. Experience of assessing training needs
20. Experience of resource management i.e. financial; human; capital
21. Experience in service planning, project management and performance monitoring/reporting
22. Knowledge and experience of needs assessment and analysis/interpretation of related data
23. A proven track record in sound and effective leadership. Ability to think strategically, corporately and act as a team player
24. A proven track record in developing innovative solutions in meeting organisational requirements and motivating staff to affect chang
25. A proven track record in developing teams/services and integrated solutions to complex and challenging problems
26. Working knowledge of basic information technology

It would be good if you also had

27. Evidence of ED, front door and Medical HDU experience
28. Evidence of personal contribution and leading service planning and redesign projects
29. Demonstrable and relevant expert practice in the speciality
30. Evidence of QI Leadership
31. In depth knowledge of acute urgent care, Medical HDU, CCU environments
32. Training and facilitation skills
33. Effective communication and interpersonal skills
