Role Description This is a full-time, hybrid Health and Safety Manager role based in Cannock, with also spending time onsite. The Health and Safety Manager will develop, implement, and continuously improve health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures across construction and refurbishment projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting site inspections and audits, performing risk assessments and method statement reviews, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and company standards. The role involves delivering safety briefings and toolbox talks, coordinating safety training programs, and supporting site managers and project teams in embedding a strong safety culture. The successful candidate will investigate incidents and near misses, maintain H&S records and reports, liaise with clients and external auditors, and provide practical guidance to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant project delivery.
Qualifications
* Strong Health & Safety expertise, including practical experience managing safety on construction or industrial sites.
* Knowledge of Environment Health and Safety (EHS) principles, with the ability to integrate environmental considerations into health and safety practices.
* Understanding of Occupational Health considerations, including risk assessment and control measures for workers’ wellbeing.
* Experience in Safety Training, including delivering toolbox talks, inductions, and ongoing competency-based training.
* Familiarity with UK H&S legislation, CDM regulations, and construction industry best practices.
* Strong communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to challenge and support in equal measure.
* Proven ability to analyze data, write clear reports, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly to project sites.
* Membership or working towards membership of a professional body (e.g., IOSH) is desirable.
