You’ll provide administrative and clinical support to Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists working with in-patients and out-patients across wards, the therapy gym and the hydrotherapy pool. Under the direction of registered Therapists, the postholder will assist with delivery of therapy programmes and activities, support safe and efficient hydrotherapy sessions, and contribute to effective departmental administration and service improvement. Key Responsibilities Clinical and therapy support Assist Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists in the provision of therapy, using skills and techniques independently once trained and assessed as competent. Follow individual treatment plans and seek guidance for any issues outside own competence. Support patient-related duties as directed/supervised by a Physiotherapist, for example: patient positioning; supervised mobility practice; exercise programmes; stairs practice. Assist Physiotherapists by conducting pre-operative introductions to the Physiotherapy service, where appropriate. Communicate effectively with Therapists, patients, relatives/carers and other staff in all matters relating to patient care, treatment and service delivery. Hydrotherapy and poolside patient management Support Physiotherapists with the smooth running of hydrotherapy sessions, including preparation and close-down of the hydrotherapy area. Assist with safe transfer, positioning and observation of patients at poolside, in line with individual plans and departmental procedures. Administration, documentation and service coordination Ensure all relevant paperwork and clinical/departmental documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner, following local procedures. Carry out day-to-day tasks accurately and in an organised manner within specified timeframes, prioritising workload appropriately. Use hospital-based systems to register activity, make bookings and record billing accurately, resolving queries and escalating discrepancies in line with local procedures. Equipment, stock and environment Keep the department clean and tidy and ensure equipment is cleaned and checked regularly, following the cleaning schedule. Maintain cleanliness of all physiotherapy equipment, including hydrotherapy plinths and gym plinths. Health & Safety and Governance Responsibilities Observe the policies, procedures and standards of King Edward VII’s Hospital together with all relevant statutory and professional obligations. Comply with departmental policies and procedures at all times, including infection prevention and control, manual handling and local lone-working/escalation procedures. Digital, Excel and AI Skills Confident IT user with ability to produce accurate documents, data entry and communications using Microsoft Word and Outlook/Email. Key Skills / Qualifications: Experience and knowledge Previous experience in healthcare and knowledge/understanding of Therapy Services is desirable. Previous administration experience in any role. Skills and attributes Excellent communication skills: able to communicate written, verbal and electronic information clearly, accurately and concisely.
