Are you passionate about sport, fitness, and inspiring young people?
ABC Teachers are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Sports Mentor / Behaviour Mentor to work across SEND and SEMH schools in the Coventry area.
About the role
This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals with a background in sport, coaching, or physical education who want to use their skills to make a positive difference in the lives of young people with additional needs. As a Sports Mentor, you will support students’ learning, behaviour, and wellbeing by using sport and physical activity to promote focus, confidence, and teamwork.
You will work closely with teachers and support staff to engage students both inside and outside the classroom, helping them develop essential life skills such as resilience, respect, and self-belief. Whether through structured PE sessions, small-group interventions, or 1:1 mentoring, your enthusiasm for sport will help every student feel valued and capable of success.
About the school
You will be working in specialist schools in the Coventry area (CV6 and CV7) that provide exceptional support for children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), and a range of communication or learning differences.
These schools focus on emotional wellbeing, inclusion, and personal growth. Staff work collaboratively with therapists, families, and outside agencies to help students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
Each day is different and dynamic — one moment you might be supporting a student through a sports-based confidence-building session, and the next you’re helping them regulate emotions and re-engage with classroom learning. The environment is positive, calm, and caring, where every child is encouraged to thrive physically, socially, and emotionally.
If you are a team player with a patient, proactive attitude and a genuine passion for helping young people succeed through sport, this Sports Mentor role could be your ideal next step.
