This team-oriented role involves joining one of our Water Services Teams to ensure the water supply process delivers wholesome drinking water to our customers. You will be responsible for maintaining equipment at Water Treatment Works, responding to issues, and ensuring operational reliability.
Your mechanical knowledge will enable you to operate and maintain water supply assets, including equipment at water treatment works, reservoirs, towers, and pumping stations.
What does it take to be a Mechanical Asset Technician?
You should learn quickly, use your initiative to solve problems, and train alongside an experienced Technician to acquire necessary skills. Candidates should have completed an apprenticeship, NVQ Level 2, and hold a relevant ONC/BTEC qualification.
You must have a flexible approach to working hours, including standby rota duties, and live within the surrounding areas.
Your duties will include planned and reactive maintenance on mechanical assets (e.g., pumps, screens, mixers, chemical dosing systems), working on water quality instruments, and calibrations. You will also work towards a Licence to Operate Qualification to manage complex water treatment works.
