We are looking for a Perinatal Pathologist to work with a well known hospital in Ireland.
The Consultant Histopathologist will provide specialist perinatal pathology and perinatal autopsy services, supporting safe, high‑quality care for women, infants, and families. The role includes diagnostic reporting, leadership, teaching, and quality improvement within a multidisciplinary team (MDT).
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities
* Provide comprehensive perinatal pathology services, including perinatal autopsies and placental pathology.
* Perform post‑mortems for perinatal, early neonatal, and early pregnancy losses.
* Ensure compliance with nationally agreed turnaround times and laboratory quality standards.
* Attend and contribute to perinatal mortality review meetings and MDT discussions.
* Provide clinical leadership in MDT settings including mortality/morbidity and risk meetings.
Education, Training & Research
* Provide teaching and training to NCHDs and laboratory staff.
* Participate in clinical audit, ethics committees, and quality improvement projects.
* Engage in continuing professional development (CPD) and encourage research activity.
Governance & Administration
* Promote open communication and uphold hospital values.
* Contribute to service development, risk management, and compliance with accreditation standards.
Essential Requirements
* Registration or eligibility to register as a specialist in Histopathology with the Irish Medical Council (IMC).
Salary on Offer
* Salary scale (HSE Consultant Contract): €235,862 – €283,318.
* 37 hour week plus on‑call (additional remuneration possible).
* Annual leave: 30 days plus 10 public holidays.
* CME allowance: up to €12,000 + research grant up to €8,000.
