Job Summary:
The VAT Clerk supports the VAT department in managing all aspects of Value Added Tax (VAT) compliance. The role involves preparing VAT returns, maintaining accurate VAT records, ensuring timely submissions, and assisting clients with their VAT queries.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and assist with the submission of monthly and quarterly VAT returns.
Ensure compliance with VAT regulations and filing deadlines.
Reconcile VAT accounts and investigate discrepancies or variances.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of VAT transactions and documentation.
Assist with responding to tax authority queries.
Liaising with the clients regarding their VAT queries and returns.
Keep updated on VAT law changes and support in implementing process improvements.
Collaborate with internal departments to ensure correct VAT treatment on invoices and transactions.
Skills and Qualifications:
Basic knowledge of VAT legislation and accounting principles.
Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
Proficiency in Excel a must have with some other accounting software knowledge but not a must.
Good organisational and time-management skills.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team and meet strict VAT deadlines.
Desirable Experience:
Previous experience in a finance or accounting role, preferably with VAT exposure.
