This role may be perfect for you if you are currently, or have been, a Healthcare Assistant and are looking for a part-time role. Here, you'll have the opportunity to build on your experience and be trained to a more specialist level.
We're expanding our team and are looking for more Specialist Carers to join our charity. You'll be joining an award-winning, certified Outstanding team, dedicated to empowering children and families to experience as much life as possible.
As a Specialist Carer, you'll provide life-changing care for babies, children, and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions. You will work in collaboration with their families, multidisciplinary teams, and your Noah's Ark colleagues.
You will be encouraged to prioritize the experiences of children and families. Understanding their clinical needs and personal preferences is vital—knowing a child's favorite song, how they like to play, or what comforts them when they are sad. At Noah's Ark, each child is treated as an individual, focusing on their abilities rather than limitations, supporting them to explore possibilities they might not have considered.
Providing care at our state-of-the-art facility, The Ark, or out in the community, allows parents and carers to take time for themselves, making a significant difference in their lives. Your care will help families experience greater freedom and choice, which can often seem impossible.
Your commitment extends through end-of-life care, where you'll be a reassuring presence for families and collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comfort.
We seek individuals with experience working with children and young people in health, education, or social settings. Beyond experience, we value core values of kindness, excellence, and courage. We will support you to go above and beyond in your role, sharing our mission.
You will work autonomously once trained, confidently delivering community care. Collaboration is key—you'll work closely with team members, healthcare professionals, and families to provide the best possible care.
The role requires availability for various shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends. A full UK driving license and access to a personal vehicle are essential. We reimburse travel time, parking, and offer a generous mileage allowance.
You will adhere to policies and procedures, demonstrating competency in clinical skills.
Our mission is to help children and young people with life-limiting conditions and their families enjoy life as fully as possible, beyond their diagnoses. We listen to families and tailor our services to individual needs, supporting from the point of diagnosis.
Our support is available wherever needed—homes, community, or at The Ark in Barnet. We collaborate with NHS Trusts and care providers to deliver exceptional support. Our space welcomes children with complex needs to play, explore, express themselves, and build confidence.
