Job Description Infrastructure Engineer - Networks Permanent Grade C - £35,412 - £44,075 per annum Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review Working 36.5 hours per week Hybrid Birmingham City Council are seeking a motivated Networks Infrastructure Engineer to join their Network Professionals team working on a hybrid basis. A skilled engineer is required to join a busy team that supports the Birmingham City Council (BCC) network and is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the network to meet business needs. The position offers the opportunity to work with leading-edge network technologies from top-tier vendors, including Cisco, Checkpoint, F5, and Smoothwall, in a large WAN that spans over 200 sites. The infrastructure supports over 10,000 users who provide key services to over a million citizens in the city. What you will do Provide technical assistance to the customer base. Act as a point of escalation for team members and customers Provide Tier 1/2 support for the day-to-day running of the Network, Internet Services, Load-balancing and Firewall Services. Participate in the installation of new sites, from site survey to go-live. Deliver operational changes, including s Troubleshoot technical problems, challenges and complexities that exist within the network. Troubleshoot connectivity issues with Cisco wireless LAN controllers. Configure, Install, Maintain and update Cisco Access Points, Routers and switches. Onsite attendance is subject to service needs. You will need a full UK driving licence for this role along with access to a vehicle as you will be travelling to sites across the city. Car Allowance will be paid at the appropriate rate under BCC Car Mileage policy. The ideal candidate will also need to have CICSO CCNA qualification and proven experience in a field-based role.
