PE Global is currently recruiting for an EHS Projects Support contractor on behalf of our client, a leading manufacturing organisation based onsite in Desford. This is a 12-month contract offering a pay rate of £26.54 per hour PAYE or £36.34 per hour via umbrella, with an ASAP start. Working hours are Monday to Thursday, 08:00–16:30, and Friday, 08:00–12:30, with some flexibility around start and finish times. The successful candidate will report to the Senior Manager, EHS, and join an established team of 8 EHS professionals. Please note that this is a full-time onsite position, and applicants must have the right to work in the UK, as sponsorship is not available.
Position Summary
PE Global is recruiting for an experienced EHS Projects Support professional to join a dynamic and fast-paced manufacturing client based in Desford. This role will support the planning and execution of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) projects across the site — with a strong focus on compliance, risk mitigation, and driving forward the EHS strategic agenda.
This is a hands-on role where you\'ll lead and contribute to a portfolio of high-impact EHS initiatives. You’ll bring resilience, structure, and energy to an evolving team environment, and play a key part in maintaining operational safety excellence.
Key Responsibilities
* Project Management: Lead or support the delivery of EHS projects such as risk assessments, ergonomic improvements, environmental compliance upgrades, and safety system enhancements.
* Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all projects align with UK EHS regulations and internal standards (including ISO 14001 & ISO 45001).
* Data Analysis & Reporting: Monitor and report on EHS metrics using Excel and Power BI to track project success and identify areas for improvement.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Work cross-functionally with operations, engineering, maintenance, and leadership teams to implement effective EHS solutions.
* Training & Communication: Develop and deliver EHS communications and training materials to support project rollouts.
* Audit Support: Assist in the preparation for internal and external audits and support the execution of corrective actions as needed.
Required Qualifications & Experience
* Bachelor\'s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering or related field (UK qualifications required).
* Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an EHS role within industrial or manufacturing environments (not food or office-based).
* Strong knowledge of UK EHS legislation.
* Proven track record in managing EHS projects from initiation to close-out.
* Understanding of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); Power BI experience is highly advantageous.
* Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.

* Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
* Familiarity with sustainability or energy efficiency initiatives.
* Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
