In this role you will be supporting students in overcoming their Social, Emotional and Mental Health challenges. You will support students in lessons, helping them manage their emotions, and encourage them to stay on track. These pupils often come with a history of disrupted schooling, difficult behaviour, or backgrounds where trust has been broken. It’s not easy. There will be outbursts and difficult moments. But there will also be breakthroughs. When a pupil stays in class all lesson, engages with work they’d normally avoid, or simply builds trust with you. Those moments are where the role feels worthwhile. You’ll be collaborating closely with the Safeguarding team, class teachers, and pastoral leads to create a positive, consistent routine.
Your compassion, empathy and patience will be your biggest strengths within this role. Leaning into a soft and understanding yet confident approach will be necessary. We need somebody who is not fazed by a challenge. If you see opportunity where others see difficulty this is the role for you!
About the school:
The staff and pupils in this school have a relationship founded in mutual respect and trust as the Teachers and supporting staff put a huge emphasis on making learning accessible to every child and providing enriching opportunities for their pupils. From early years onwards expectations are set clear and good behaviour in this school is recognised and rewarded. Both the staff and pupils feel valued, supported and enthusiastic about learning and development.
