SENDCO – Interim Opportunity in a Bolton Secondary School
Location: Bolton
Pay: £220 – £250 per day
Start Date: After Easter break 2026
Job Description:
A forward-thinking and supportive secondary school in the Bolton area is seeking an experienced and passionate SENDCO to join them on an initial temporary basis starting after Easter.

The Role
As SENDCO, you will:

Lead and manage SEND provision across the school
*
Oversee EHCPs, Annual Reviews, and statutory processes
*
Coordinate Teaching Assistants and support staff effectively
*
Support teaching staff to deliver high-quality inclusive practice
*
Work closely with parents, carers, and external agencies
*
Contribute to whole-school inclusion strategy
*
Ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice
This role is predominantly non-teaching. There is no requirement for regular class-based teaching at this stage. However, the successful candidate will be expected to provide cover for one period per day within the school’s internal Alternative Provision (AP).
The majority of the role will focus on coordinating SEND provision, managing and preparing EHCP referrals and documentation, and ensuring that all statutory processes are well-evidenced and compliant.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

National Award for SEN Coordination (or working towards it)

Strong knowledge of SEND legislation and statutory requirements

Experience within a secondary school setting

Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
