We have a fantastic opportunity available for a full time B7 permanent position within a passionate and dedicated Upper GI Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist team.
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Band 7 nurse to join our team who will be committed to work collaboratively with our Upper GI Multi disciplinary Team professionals. The current team are based in Bristol Royal Infirmary delivering high standards of person centred care.
This role will be across the University Hospital Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will function as an autonomous practitioner, delivering a high-quality, holistic, patient-centred specialist nursing service for patients diagnosed with upper gastrointestinal (GI) cancers.
They will provide expert, evidence-based care, information, and support to patients and their families across the full cancer pathway, from diagnosis through treatment, survivorship, and where appropriate, end-of-life care.
The post holder will demonstrate a high level of clinical expertise in upper GI oncology, providing specialist advice, psychological support, and education to patients, carers, and the wider multidisciplinary team.
They will contribute to and influence clinical decision-making within the multidisciplinary team (MDT), advocating for patient needs and preferences.
Working collaboratively across primary, secondary, and tertiary care, the post holder will coordinate care to ensure a seamless, safe, and effective patient experience.
They will also work closely with allied health professionals and palliative care services to optimise patient outcomes.
The CNS will actively contribute to education, mentorship, clinical supervision, audit, and research activities.
They will support the development of nursing practice within the team, promote evidence-based care, and participate in service evaluation to drive continuous improvement.

Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria:
* Thorough and up to date knowledge of nursing theory and best practice particularly within the speciality area of UPGI cancer
* Significant relevant clinical experience in care of patients with UPGI cancer
* Substantial current speciality experience
* Experience of undertaking research or audit projects
* Evidence of recent teaching experience
Qualifications and Training
* Essential criteria: Active NMC Registration
* Degree in nursing or health related subject
* Relevant accredited post registration at level 3
* Qualification in Teaching and Assessing or equivalent experience
* Evidence of masters level academic study or willingness to work towards Masters
* Desirable criteria: Management qualification
* Non- Medical Prescribing Skills and Abilities
