Position Overview: Assess and settle cost claims in Clinical Negligence cases at an entry‑level position, handling all procedural aspects up to agreement or assessment.

Working Hours: 35 hrs/week, Mon‑Fri 9am‑5pm (1 unpaid lunch break)
Salary: £22,222 per year
Key Responsibilities
* Drafting legal documents:
o Chronology
o Cost Strategy Document
o Points of Dispute
o Interlocutory applications (basic)
o Part 18 requests
o Consent orders
* Evidential reviews & assessments:
o Detailed file review and chronology preparation
o Cost assessment and reserve setting
o Reply assessment
o Incoming disclosure & documentary evidence review
o Supervision referral
o PA outcome assessment
* Reporting:
o Draft advice on NDA files to client
o Prepare outcome reports after case conclusion
o Non‑strategic client updates
* Settlement negotiations:
o Assess part 36 offers and other proposals
o Negotiate with third parties
o Complete MI, payment request, and outcome report to client
o Ensure compliance with SRA standards & regulations
Qualifications
* Essential:
o English & Maths GCSE grade A‑C/Level 5 or equivalent
o IT literacy (Microsoft Office)
o Organisational skills – prioritise and multitask
o Interpersonal & oral communication skills
o Experience of costs negotiation & strategy
o Customer service skills
o Team player and independent worker
o Initiative and attention to detail
o Drafting costs legal documents (PODs & applications)
o Understanding of client needs
o Knowledge of litigation and costs process
o Proficient use of case‑management system
* Desirable:
o Legal office experience
o Use of a case‑management system
o Degree or equivalent qualification
