Band 6 Specialist Radiographer - 37.5 hours
An opportunity has arisen within the X‑ray department at the Cumberland Infirmary as a Band 6 Specialist Radiographer. The successful candidate will be competent in interventional radiography and be able to lead radiographers during interventional procedures.
They will also oversee the daily running of the Keswick X‑ray department and be responsible for the service at the community site, spending at least one day per week at Keswick with the remaining days at the Cumberland Infirmary.
The successful candidate will support the X‑ray Lead & Interventional Lead Radiographer, coordinate day‑to‑day activities, take on additional responsibilities and fulfil all duties to a high standard. They will also participate in the full rota, including out‑of‑hours, weekends and the on‑call rota.
Main duties
* Support and deputise for the Lead Radiographers in specialist areas, including interventional radiography, providing a comprehensive service and organising the service demands.
* Take responsibility for daily organisation and coordination of activities within available resources.
* Undertake additional responsibilities set by the Lead Radiographers, ensuring completion to a high standard.
* Supervise and assist in the practical training of radiographers and helpers; help other professionals understand procedures and images.
* Act as mentor or preceptor to less experienced staff as required.
* Participate on the team that provides practical training of student radiographers.
* Introduce new staff to their duties and play a key role in the departmental induction programme.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Degree in radiography or equivalent.
* HPC registration.
* Relevant postgraduate certificate or equivalent.
* Relevant postgraduate diploma or equivalent.
Experience
* General radiology experience working in the NHS.
* Well‑developed diagnostic radiography within an acute hospital.
* Experience in specialist field(s) of radiology (as appropriate to role).
* Experience in moving and handling the non‑independently mobile, including those with multiple injuries.
* Teaching and appraisal experience.
Knowledge
* Patient care including signs of deteriorating health and first level life support techniques.
* Continuing professional development with portfolio.
* Patient care.
* Infection prevention & control.
* Protection of persons against radiation hazards.Moving and handling techniques.
* IM&T.
* CRIS / PACS.
* Pathology recognition.
* Trust policies and procedures.
* Speciality specific knowledge through personally directed study and training.
