Job Purpose: To ensure that all staff, volunteers, and everyone who comes to the Foodbank and the Community Shop for help is treated with care and respect, including listening to their needs, not judging them, and signposting to further assistance appropriately. To celebrate and build on a successful organisation that is embedded in the community and has a strong, positive reputation because of the unique relational model developed over the last 10 years. To lead a committed team of over 30 volunteers and manage paid staff. To lead the organisation in its mission to alleviate hunger, restore dignity, and provide a pathway to financial independence, offering hope to local people in crisis. To contribute to the shaping, review, and implementation of the strategic development plan for the organisation. Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Organisational: To oversee the operation of the Food Bank, Community Shop, and Additional Offer, ensuring the vision and purpose are maintained. To line manage paid staff, conducting quarterly reviews, annual appraisals, and Personal Development Plans. To facilitate staff meetings, oversee recruitment, training, and management of volunteers, and ensure compliance with statutory requirements and policies. To assist in budget setting and monitoring, and develop relationships with local businesses and organisations. To coordinate volunteers and Trustees, and participate in relevant networks. To maintain good relations with food donors and manage the complex Christmas operation.
2. Food Bank: To oversee the operation, ensuring efficient supply of emergency food parcels, building relationships with clients, and increasing referrals. To monitor communication channels and handle enquiries efficiently.
3. Community Shop: To oversee the operation, ensuring it is well-stocked and within budget. To support volunteer-client reviews and ensure the Shop contributes to tackling underlying causes of crisis and supports financial independence.
4. Additional Support - Debt and Benefits Support: To maintain relationships with Community Money Advice, oversee the annual audit, coordinate volunteer Debt Mentors, and manage caseloads. To support and grow the Benefits Advice Team, and manage PIP and Fuel Advisors, making appropriate referrals.
