This is a full-time position 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday, based at St. Michaels Hospital. The role will work across the ENT Department to support all areas with administrative tasks and will provide insight into careers within the NHS.
Communication
* Support the triage of referrals by liaising with key clinical staff.
* Manage patient communications via telephone and Trust systems to create letters, emails, and text reminders.
* Act as a point of contact for queries from clinical and non-clinical staff.
* Liaise with clinical and non-clinical teams across the Trust via telephone and email.
* Escalate patient queries, capacity problems and general issues to the line manager or relevant clinical staff as appropriate.
Patient Care
* Show a caring and professional approach towards patients, relatives and carers, including resilience to deal with distressed situations.
Organising and Planning
* Carry out clerical duties such as maintaining accurate filing systems, receiving post, diary management and scanning patient notes.
* Ensure clinic lists are effectively utilised in discussion with the appropriate clinician and manager, and rebook any cancelled appointment slots.
* Check and sort investigation reports and pass information on to the clinical team as required.
* Ensure speciality‑specific documentation is completed and filed appropriately.
* Attend appropriate meetings as required by the role's line manager, including those related to welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
