Commissioning Engineer
Location: Essex
Salary: £35,000 – £55,000 per annum

We are currently seeking a Commissioning Engineer to join our Automation team based in Essex. This role will involve supporting the delivery of automation projects through in-house testing and on-site commissioning, ensuring systems perform as designed prior to customer acceptance.
The successful candidate will be responsible for executing detailed test protocols, validating system functionality, troubleshooting automation equipment and supporting installations both internally and at customer sites.
Key Responsibilities

Execution of I/O testing

Running, verifying and troubleshooting PLC software, drives and networked systems

Supporting installation, commissioning and after-sales support at customer sites
*
Electrical fault finding and troubleshooting
*
Executing company test protocols prior to acceptance testing
*
Completing all required commissioning and test documentation
*
Reporting incidents, deviations and test results to the project team
*
Liaising with customer validation teams during Factory Acceptance Testing and site commissioning
*
Providing feedback to improve commissioning and testing processes
*
Maintenance and calibration of commissioning and test equipment
Skills and Qualifications
*
PLC troubleshooting experience including Siemens TIA Portal, Omron or Allen-Bradley
*
Experience with drives including VFDs and servo systems (Altivar, Siemens)
*
HMI and SCADA commissioning and troubleshooting such as WinCC or Tatsoft
*
Experience with industrial networks such as Profinet and Ethernet/IP
*
Understanding of electrical control schematics
*
Experience integrating vision systems or ancillary automation equipment is beneficial
*
Formal engineering qualification or apprenticeship preferred
*
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word and Excel

Good understanding of automated machinery and industrial equipment
Experience Required
*
Minimum 2 years commissioning experience within industrial automation environments such as automotive, food and beverage, consumer goods or similar sectors

Experience performing structured testing or commissioning procedures
Desirable
*
Experience testing automated equipment or machinery prior to customer acceptance
