Engineering Lead 593CW Hinkley Point C (hybrid) £610 per day Umbrella Long-term Contract Overview: Hinkley Point C (HPC) is the Nuclear New Build under sonstruction in Somerset that aims to help Britain achieve their net zero goals by providing 6 million homes with power. We are currently looking to recruit an Engineering Lead, to join the Area Integration Team who ensure that there is a recommended sequence of installation of all scope across multiple contracts within their designated area; from manufacturing completion through to site construction, erection and commissioning which supports schedule integration. As an Engineering Lead, your primary objective will be to identify and eliminate issues to fully de-risk site activities. This will involve interfacing with the Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Area Multi-Disciplinary Teams on the HPC project. To be successful you will need to use 3D and 4D tools, such as Navisworks and/or Synchro, and manage and analyse data via databases, excel and Power BI. What you’ll be doing: The Engineering Lead will have experience in planning and constructing complex construction projects to achieve the job purpose objectives by implementing, as a minimum, the following as appropriate for the work being performed: Advocating safe and effective planning of works for site construction. Ensuring that conventional and nuclear safety considerations are recognised as essential to the success of the project and built into the planning processes. Ensuring that detailed plans are developed on a facility and/or area basis which integrate, co-ordinate and sequence work activities to achieve the optimum construction sequence, paying particular attention to several contractor interfaces. Including: Equipment and bulk material introduction routing, equipment installation and material handling Identification of Site Need Dates for equipment and materials Supporting a coordinated and holistic approach to the provision of common shared services such as scaffold, temporary services, and utilities, etc. Recognising the importance of other supporting activities such as laydown areas, and work area coordination for activities such as housekeeping and work face storage. Fostering and promoting Area Management collaboration between Delivery Integration, Project Controls, Area MDT members and supply chain partners to achieve a “what’s best for the project” outcome. Understanding and adhering to the processes and procedures that govern the Delivery Integration Team’s scope of work and advocating their effective implementation. The Engineering Lead will support and/or oversee the implementation of: Delivery Work Packs – Readiness reviews conducted on a rolling wave basis based on a time scale relative to the start of a scope of works on site. Hotspot management - Looking ahead to identify risks and developing mitigating options in sufficient time so as not to impact the construction site performance. Interface Data Sheets - To support the Area Handover process. Maximizing the knowledge gained from lessons learned from previous projects and utilising the project’s lessons learned program for experiences from FA3, Taishan, etc. Encouraging the development of HPC lessons learned to support future project execution. Who you are… • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering or Equivalent in Construction Management or related subject or a demonstrable level of experience based on years of experience and project assignments .• Strong experience in delivering highly complex projects. • Experience operating in a high security environment advantageous. • In-depth knowledge and experience of programme progress and forecast position and planning. • Strong communication skills in English required, knowledge of French can be an advantage. • Experience and understanding of working in a Nuclear and Safety Quality Culture. • Understanding and awareness of working in a highly regulated environment. • Ability to work collaboratively and in an integrated team environment. • Excellent organisational and communication skills. • Management of strategic planning, developing construction sequences and recovery plans. • Good working knowledge of commercial principles affecting construction matters. • Ability to produce informative, concise reports. • Awareness of project change control and risk management processes. • Extensive working knowledge in the delivery of large complex construction projects. • Experience and understanding of using solid modelling packages including Navisworks and project scheduling, desirable.
