Disrepair Surveying Manager

Employer:
We are seeking a Disrepair Surveying Manager for a leading social housing provider in the South of England. The organization is ambitious with a five-year plan to create sustainable communities through new builds and investments in existing properties.
The Role:
1. Lead a team of surveyors and serve as the technical expert in property surveying, ensuring compliance with policies, legislation, and regulations such as Planning permission, Building Regulations, and Asbestos regulations.
2. Prepare inspection reports compliant with Part 35 of the Civil Procedure Rules and act as an expert witness in legal disrepair cases, providing clear explanations of reports.
3. Stay updated on legislative and industry standard changes affecting social housing, ensuring all inspections and works meet standards.
4. Manage and develop the surveying team to enhance their skills and knowledge.
5. Oversee asset quality, including conducting technical inspections and housing condition reports.
6. Handle complex property issues, disputes, disrepair, or complaints, producing technical reports and specifications to restore properties to a decent standard, including adaptations.
7. Engage with stakeholders to build relationships, respond to feedback, and implement service improvements.
8. Ensure efficient service delivery, value for money, and initiatives to reduce the organization's carbon footprint.
9. Perform additional duties as required.
The Candidate Needs:
* Degree or HND/HNC in Building Surveying or related qualification.
* Experience as an expert witness in legal disrepair matters.
* RICS qualification or extensive relevant experience in legal disrepair management and Environmental Health.
* Knowledge of the Housing Health and Safety Rating System and related legislation.
* Experience in building maintenance and surveying, with the ability to diagnose complex issues.
* Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
* Commercial awareness and value-for-money focus.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and maintenance management software.
* Valid driving license and access to personal transport with appropriate insurance.
Summary:
This is a permanent, full-time position working 40 hours over five days. A satisfactory Basic DBS check is required.
