We are currently looking for a Desktop Support Engineer to support one of our clients based on‑site in Southampton. This is a full‑time position working a 37.5‑hour week Monday to Friday. The ideal candidate will need a flexible approach as overtime and on‑call duties may be required. Eligible candidates must be able to obtain an SC Security Clearance.
Responsibilities
* Desktop / Laptop / VDI build, configuration, and deployment to end users
* Software installation and deployment
* Asset and peripheral deployments
* In‑depth investigation into issues
* Support calls for laptop, desktop and VDI terminals as part of the support team
* Hardware installation, upgrade, and break‑fix for desktop, laptop, and server
* Smartphone support (Android & iOS)
* VIP support
* Assisting with customer projects
* Occasional local travel (within a 2 hr radius) to cover leave at sites
What We’re Looking For
* Experience with Microsoft Windows 10/11 operating systems – deployment, configuration, and support
* Support for Microsoft Office 2016 onwards
* Proven software and hardware troubleshooting skills in a deskside support role
* Knowledge of Microsoft SCCM and OS/application deployment
* Good verbal communication with all levels of staff
* Clear, concise written communication for call logging, documentation, and email correspondence
* Strong time‑management and organisational skills
* Ability to work well as part of a team or independently
Desirable Skills / Qualifications
* Microsoft Windows 10 and / or 11 training, certification, or experience
* Experience with legacy operating systems
* Active Directory management
* Understanding of Microsoft SCCM
* Experience with Microsoft Entra
* Experience with Trellix EPO and client‑side agents
* Experience configuring and troubleshooting client‑side Wi‑Fi
* Experience with Windows security configuration
* Experience with client encryption and VPN (Trellix, BitLocker, Cisco, F5, Zscaler)
* Previous experience in a similar role
* Willingness to learn new skills and technologies
* Clean full driving licence

Salary: £30,000.00 – £33,000.00 per annum
