The Paramedic Education Specialist functions as a staff resource and as a clinical liaison to the Educational Services Department. Assists with development, implementation and evaluation of educational programs and projects to support St. Luke’ Emergency & Transportation Service goals and objectives
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Demonstrates expertise in areas of clinical practice as appropriate.
2. Demonstrates ability in the teaching/learning process to improve clinical practice.
3. Coordinates, schedules and evaluates unit-based orientation for new employees.
4. Assures compliance with orientation policies and procedures.
5. Facilitates staff education.
6. Completes and submits documentation for educational programming. Maintains unit records.
7. Participates in the development of policies and procedures.
8. Participates on committees as assigned.
9. Participates in activities that promote professional growth and development.
10. Maintains alignment with regional EMS educational offerings and protocols.
11. Maintains the St. Luke’s ETS SIM Unit in coordination with the SIM Center.
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Sits up to 6 hours a day for 2 hours at a time. Stands for up to 8 hours a day for up to 1 hour at a time. Walks up to 8 hours a day for up to 15 minutes at a time. Frequently uses the fingers and hands to manipulate objects. Frequently lifts, carries, pushes and/or pulls up to 10 lbs. Occasionally lifts, carries, pushes or pulls objects up to 75 lbs. Frequently stoops and bends. Frequently reaches above shoulder level. Must be able to perceive attributes of an object through touch. Must have the ability to hear normal conversation. Must have the ability for seeing as it relates to general, near, far, color, peripheral vision. Must have visual attributes for depth perception and visual monotony.
EDUCATION:
Pennsylvania certification as a Paramedic or PHRN. Critical Care Paramedic certification preferred.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 5 years’ experience, Preferred BLS, ACLS, PALS, NAEMT EVOS, PHTLS, EPC Instructor or attainment of such within 1 year. PA EMS Instructor Rating within 1 year of hire.
