Finance Manager / Financial Controller
Location: Central South London (Hybrid – 3 days in office)
Type: Full-time (Maternity Cover)
About Us
We are a growing, fast-paced marketing agency working with a diverse portfolio of clients across multiple sectors. With continued growth, we are looking for a hands-on Finance Manager / Financial Controller to take ownership of day-to-day finance operations, ensure strong financial control, and support the business with accurate, timely reporting.
The Role
This is a highly operational and hands-on role, ideal for someone who enjoys being close to the detail while also supporting business decision-making. You will take ownership of core finance processes, with a particular focus on cashflow management, accounts payable, and maintaining robust financial controls.
You will also manage and support a small finance team (up to 2 people), ensuring efficient and accurate delivery across all finance activities.
Key Responsibilities
Day-to-Day Finance Operations
* Oversee all transactional finance activities including Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
* Manage supplier payments, approvals, and relationships
* Ensure accurate posting of invoices, expenses, and reconciliations
* Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy across all financial data
Cashflow Management
* Take full ownership of cashflow forecasting and monitoring
* Manage short- and medium-term cashflow planning
* Optimise working capital and ensure effective cash management processes
* Provide regular cashflow reporting and insights to senior leadership
Management Reporting
* Prepare monthly management accounts with variance analysis
* Support budgeting and forecasting processes
* Deliver timely and accurate financial reports
* Assist with year-end and audit processes
Financial Control & Process Improvement
* Maintain and strengthen financial controls and processes
* Identify and implement process improvements to drive efficiency
* Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal policies
Team Management
* Manage and mentor a small finance team (up to 2 individuals)
* Oversee workload allocation and development of team members
* Ensure high standards of accuracy and accountability within the team
About You
* Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
* Strong experience in a hands-on finance role (Finance Manager / Senior Management Accountant / Financial Controller)
* Proven experience managing Accounts Payable and cashflow processes
* Experience managing or supervising a small team
* Highly organised, detail-oriented, and proactive
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced, growing business
* Experience in a marketing, media, or creative agency is a plus
