This role is based remotely in the UK, with one day a month in our Winchester office and regular travel to industry facilities and conferences worldwide, also typically once a month.

About Ziroth
Ziroth is a YouTube channel with over half a million subscribers, built around technical deep dives into electric power and propulsion systems. Our audience is engineers, researchers, and technically minded enthusiasts who want to go beyond the headline of a new breakthrough.
We produce content that goes further than most: tracing claims back to primary sources, interviewing researchers and engineers at the frontier, and visiting facilities most channels never get access to. We often work with world leading organisations including CATL, BMW, and Panasonic, as well as startups about to change the world. Our content regularly engages directly with academic literature and patent filings.
We're a small, focused team. Everyone who joins has real ownership of their work.
The Role
We're looking for a Technical Research & Content Producer to join us full-time. This is a core production role: you'll take topics from initial brief through deep research to a polished, accurate script and help shape how those ideas are communicated visually.
The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in engineering or physical science, genuine curiosity about how things work at a deep level, and the ability to translate complex material into content that is both precise and compelling. You don't need to have worked in media before, but you do need to care about communicating technical ideas well and have examples of doing it.
Responsibilities
* Research video topics in depth (reading papers, patents, and technical literature, and tracing claims to original sources)
* Support the visual direction of videos, helping shape how complex material is explained on screen
* Write scripts that are accurate, well-structured, and engaging for a broad but technically literate audience
* Identify and approach relevant experts, engineers, and researchers for interviews or collaboration
* Follow developments in battery technology, electric motors, power electronics, and adjacent fields
* Work closely with the channel on content direction - proposing topics, identifying angles, and flagging what's worth covering
Criteria
Essential:
* A degree in engineering, physics, materials science, chemistry, or a closely related field - postgraduate qualification (MSc, MEng, PhD) strongly preferred
* Strong research skills: comfortable with academic papers, patents, technical datasheets, and primary sources
* Excellent written English, you need to be able to write clearly and precisely about technical subjects
* Genuine interest in energy technology, electrification, electric propulsion, or related engineering domains
* High attention to accuracy. Ziroth’s technically literate audience will catch errors (I promise!)
Desirable:
* Experience producing any form of technical communication - written, video, presentations, or otherwise
* Familiarity with science or engineering YouTube and how technical content is packaged for online audiences
* Experience engaging with industry contacts or conducting expert interviews
Salary and Growth
The salary offered is £30,000 – £45,000 depending on experience and qualification.
Rare and exceptional candidates with extensive previous experience could exceed this range and are still encouraged to apply.
This role and salary also have a lot of room to grow. As the channel scales, we expect the right person to take on increased responsibility. This could mean leading your own research threads, shaping content strategy, or stepping into a more senior production role. We're building for the long term, and we want someone who is too.
