Hays is working on an exciting role to recruit a Facilities Manager on a permanent basis this person is responsible for the effective management, maintenance, and development of the Council’s physical assets and facilities. This role ensures safe,pliant, and efficient operations across all sites, including Public Conveniences. The post holder will lead operational delivery, oversee asset management and maintenance programmes, ensure Health & Safetypliance, and contribute to the strategic direction to deliver high-quality services to themunity.
Your new role
As a Facitlies Manager your role will involve:
1. Asset & Facilities Management
2. Oversee the maintenance and operational management of all facilities, ensuring they remain safe,pliant, and fit for purpose
3. Develop and deliver planned maintenance programmes, monitoring costs and performance
4. Ensure effective management of public-facing facilities and services
5. Manage day-to-day service delivery across multiple facilities and operational teams
6. Ensure services are delivered efficiently, within budget, and in line with organisational policies
7. Lead on emergency response procedures and facilities-related incidents
8. Lead, manage, and develop operational staff, including recruitment, training, and performance management
9. Allocate workloads and ensure effective team performance
10. Take ownership of Health & Safety across all facilities, ensuring full legislativepliance
11. Maintain robust processes, procedures, and documentation
12. Manage budgets relating to facilities and maintenance
13. Oversee supplier and contractor relationships, ensuring value for money and service quality
14. Monitor financial performance and identify efficiencies
15. Act as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders
16. Build and maintain effective working relationships with contractors, partners, and service users
17. Contribute to reporting and attend meetings as required
18. Support the development of asset management strategies and service improvements
19. Provide insight and data to inform decision-making and future planning
20. Contribute to broader organisational objectives andmunity oues
What you'll need to succeed
21. Strong experience in facilities or asset management
22. Proven knowledge of Health & Safety legislation andpliance
23. Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
24. Strong interpersonal andmunication skills
25. Experience managing budgets and working with financial data
26. Ability to lead and motivate teams effectively
27. High level of integrity, professionalism, and reliability
28. Proactive, solutions-focused approach
Desirable
29. Experience within a public sector ormunity-focused environment
30. Relevant qualifications in Facilities Management or Health & Safety ( NEBOSH)
31. Knowledge of asset management systems and processes
