We're partnering with a well-established and fast-paced business in Stoke-on-Trent that is seeking an Interim Financial Controller to take immediate leadership of a large, busy finance team.
This is a critical role focused on bringing structure, oversight, and hands-on leadership to a team working under pressure. The successful candidate will need to be a strong people manager with experience leading sizeable finance teams in complex, high-volume environments. You'll provide day-to-day support and direction while ensuring that reporting and control deadlines are met without compromising quality.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead, manage, and support a large finance team covering multiple areas of responsibility
* Ensure smooth and timely delivery of management accounts, reporting, and reconciliations
* Maintain strong financial controls and ensure compliance with internal and external audit standards
* Oversee the year-end process and liaise with external auditors
* Drive consistency, accountability, and development across the team
* Step into the role quickly and bring calm, confident leadership during a period of heavy workload
What we're looking for:
* Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with strong post-qualification experience
* Proven experience managing large finance teams in fast-paced, complex environments
* A natural team leader-supportive, hands-on, and able to get the best from people
* Strong technical grounding and comfort with financial reporting and controls
* Able to work under pressure, prioritise effectively, and lead by example
* Prior interim or contract experience desirable but not essential
