Sony Pictures Television EMEA Research team are responsible for supporting SPT’s Content Distribution and International Production businesses, with market and audience based quantitative and qualitative research, across all territories for all television platforms.

This position plays a key role in providing insight to Sony’s businesses in the EMEA region.

Working with Sony’s award-winning Research team and based in London, the role will connect the business to audience behaviours and wide trends in the video industry. You will be working on projects across the entire EMEA region. You will be independently delivering analysis and managing relationships with business stakeholders and partnering with Research colleagues based across the region and in the US.

Collaborating with other members of your team and other functions within SPT will be fundamental to success. A broad goal for this position, and the team overall, is to ensure research is used effectively in decision making that positively impact the business.

The role will be working across projects involving; consumer behaviour, landscape trends, linear and digital direct-to-consumer brands, transactional, subscription and ad-supported models, local content productions and large content licensing agreements.


What you'll do:

* Collaborate in the creation of research that supports content licensing sales for the EMEA region, focusing on innovative pitch materials and approaches, especially for large sales events and high-priority content across TV shows and feature films.
* Work closely with Commercial, Marketing and Research colleagues to understand and leverage overarching consumer trends driving physical and digital retail sales for SPT. This will include working on Sony’s franchise titles such as Spider-Man, Venom, Ghostbusters and Bad Boys.
* Utilise SPT Research's tools, third-party data, and primary research to support activities related to SPT’s International Production businesses.
* Contribute to core research projects using both primary and third-party data sources, providing insights on broad industry trends and potential impacts for the business.
* With a broad regional remit, this position will be among the first to assess yet to be released TV and Film content to kick-off business strategy conversations.
* Communicate effectively with colleagues, clients, and industry-wide initiatives to maximize the value of research.
* Build and maintain positive relationships with internal business partners, stakeholders, third-party suppliers, and industry peers.


What you have:

* Typically 6-10+ years’ experience in a similar role or within the relevant media industry.
* An analytic and inquisitive nature, combined with attention to detail.
* Proven ability to produce and present clear, well-messaged insight to various levels within an organisation and in client/external meetings, making the complex concise.
* Ability to contribute to strategic direction using a mix of designed and commissioned research and third-party datasets.
* Proficient in managing deadlines, building stakeholder relationships and collaborating across functions in media or other large corporate organisation would be beneficial.
* Passion for the film and television industry, particularly Hollywood movies and U.S. TV series, with knowledge of consumption behaviours, key players, industry trends.
* Experience in applying research to content licensing and/or home entertainment business is preferred, but not vital.
* Proficient in MS PowerPoint and Excel, with the ability to use sophisticated formulas and pivot tables.
* Flexibility to work extended hours as required.
* Language skills: English essential, other European languages may be beneficial but are not required.
* Experience of TV measurement software or datasets (for example; TechEdge, EMS, BARB, Nielsen etc.) is preferred.
* Some experience with key media research tools such as; GWI, YouGov Signal, OMDIA, TAPE, K7, Parrot Analytics, Whip Media/TV Time, GoldMedia VOD-ratings, Digital-I SoDA, Foresight Factory, FutureSource, Ampere, ComScore, OCC etc. would be advantageous.
