Are you looking for an exciting role as a Band 7 Team Lead Physiotherapist in Respiratory Medicine?
We’re seeking a proactive role model with a broad skill set who thrives in acute inpatient settings, has experience managing long-term respiratory conditions and acutely unwell patients, with evidence of leadership. You’ll work alongside established Band 7s within the Medical Inpatient team at NUH's City Campus, leading the Physiotherapy service across the Respiratory Assessment Unit and Respiratory wards. You’ll offer direct patient care, service development and support and training for other team members and students.
This post will allow a physiotherapist with a keen interest in inpatient care to expand both their clinical skills and leadership of a busy and responsive service, with a focus on promoting excellent care to support patient outcomes.
We’re a friendly, welcoming team working across 17 medical wards at City Hospital, with an emphasis on personal development and positive staff experience. We work within the multidisciplinary specialities of Renal, Haematology, Infectious Diseases, Oncology and Palliative Care so experience in these areas and neurological rehab is desirable. The successful candidate will work flexibly across these areas as required.
The role provides a high standard of evidence-based physiotherapy input to patients on the respiratory pathway at NUH. This is a developing area with wide scope for service development opportunities.
In addition to leading the day-to-day management of patient-facing work, you will engage in and promote a supportive teaching environment for team members, undertake annual appraisals and manage health and wellbeing.
You will contribute to the education and training of Band 6, Band 5, students, preceptees and therapy assistant staff, including upskilling new staff for the weekend and respiratory rosters when required.
The role includes participation in the weekend and out of hours respiratory service at City Campus of NUH which incorporates Respiratory Medicine, Cystic Fibrosis Unit, Cardiothoracic surgery, General Surgery and Critical Care. You will work alongside the wider inpatient team leads to support the management, development and delivery of this out of hours service.

Physiotherapy and OT services are part of the Therapies, Outpatients and Phlebotomy Directorate, within Specialist Clinical Services at NUH. We are a diverse team of AHPs and support staff, employing over 800 staff, who works together to deliver the high quality care we aspire to. Our HCPC registered AHP professionals comprise of physiotherapists, dietitians, occupational therapists, orthotists, prosthetists and speech and language therapists. We have a Chief AHP to lead us on our strategic direction, and many of the pathway leadership team have pathway AHP backgrounds to support our staff. There are also Practice Development Therapists to support career development for all.

Responsibilities
* Lead the Physiotherapy service across the Respiratory Assessment Unit and Respiratory wards, providing direct patient care and overseeing team activity.
* Deliver high-quality, evidence-based physiotherapy input to patients on the respiratory pathway.
* Contribute to service development, teaching, and training for team members and students; undertake annual appraisals and support staff wellbeing.
* Educate and train Band 6, Band 5, students, preceptees and therapy assistants; upskill staff for weekend and respiratory rosters when required.
* Participate in weekend and out-of-hours respiratory service at City Campus, collaborating with the wider inpatient team to manage and deliver the service.

Qualifications and Experience
* Registered Physiotherapist with HCPC.
* Experience in inpatient care, management of long-term respiratory conditions and acutely unwell patients; evidence of leadership.
* Ability to work flexibly across related areas (Renal, Haematology, Infectious Diseases, Oncology, Palliative Care) and neurological rehab is desirable.
Additional Information
* Hours: Full time (37.5 hours). Core hours Monday to Friday, 8:00–16:00; flexible working may be considered.
* On-call and weekend duties, plus a respiratory late shift (1–9 PM), approx. 1-2 per month.
