Role: Quantity Surveyor (SCL)
Reporting to: Commercial Manager

With continued growth, we are now looking to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support our expanding Midlands operations.

Role Purpose
The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for providing effective commercial and contractual management across a portfolio of projects within Sanper Construction. The role supports project teams to deliver strong financial performance through accurate forecasting, cost control, contract administration, and proactive management of commercial risk.
The Quantity Surveyor provides clear, reliable commercial insight to management, supporting margin improvement, cash flow management, and informed business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial & Contract Management
Provide contractual advice to the business and project teams
* Ensure contractual obligations, notices, and communications are managed to agreed timescales
* Review and respond to contractual matters in a timely manner
* Manage and value variations, compensation events, and early warnings
* Review, prepare, and manage claims to and from the business
* Ensure commercial and contractual compliance across projects
Cost Control & Financial Performance
* Prepare cost plans, budgets, and estimates
* Review and challenge subcontractor and supplier quotations
* Monitor actual costs against budgets and prepare accurate forecasts
* Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities
* Prepare and maintain robust cost value reconciliations (CVRs)
* Support margin improvement through effective cost management
Project & Portfolio Management
* Manage a portfolio of projects from a commercial perspective
* Lead on commercial matters in project meetings and planning sessions
* Review completed designs for commercial and contractual compliance
* Ensure commercial issues are resolved efficiently and professionally
* Support project teams during key commercial stages
Supply Chain & Stakeholder Management
* Manage relationships with subcontractors and suppliers
* Develop and strengthen the supply chain
* Ensure subcontractor compliance with contractual conditions
* Lead regular cost and contract audits
* Engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders
Reporting & Administration
* Produce accurate commercial reports, forecasts, and financial data
* Maintain clear and auditable commercial records
* Contribute to benchmarking and lessons learnt activities
* Use Microsoft Office applications to prepare reports and documentation
* Support other departments when required
About You
We're looking for a proactive and commercially minded Quantity Surveyor who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in delivering high-quality work.
You will have:
* A degree (or be working towards one) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or Construction Management
* At least 5 years' UK-based experience in a similar role within construction
* Good working knowledge of NEC and/or JCT contracts
* Strong financial and cost management skills
* Excellent communication and organisational abilities
* A CSCS card
* Full UK driving licence
* The right to work in the UK and supporting documentation
Professional membership (or working towards it) such as MRICS or MCIOB is desirable.
