Overview
We are seeking a Cook Manager to join our Team in Rathmena House.
The role is for 30 hours per week, working 9am to 5pm over 4 days Monday to Sunday.
The main purpose of the role is to ensure efficient catering operations.
Responsible for services provided by all catering staff and all the catering equipment reporting to the Home Manager.

Main Duties
Purchasing fresh foods as required from local suppliers.
Ordering frozen foods and dry goods weekly from nominated suppliers.
Regularly checking that suppliers' prices are competitive.
Accounting for all monies issues and receipts obtained.
Preparing menus to be agreed with the Home Manager.
Preparing nutritional food to a high standard, taking into account any special dietary requirements.
Ensuring staff clear dishes quickly and tidily.
Ensuring that the highest standards of hygiene are maintained.
Supervise all catering staff.
Other duties as necessary to meet the catering needs of the Home.
Liaise with care staff to ensure optimum interaction between care and catering service.
Visit residents daily to ensure quality of service.

Essential Criteria
Minimum of 1 year's kitchen experience to include basic cooking, temperature control and stock ordering.
Experience of working independently and as part of a team
A good knowledge of food hygiene and health and safety regulations.
Desirable Criteria
Kitchen experience working within a hospital or Nursing Home environment.
Possess a recognised qualification in catering, i.e. NVQ 1 & 2 or equivalent.
Basic Food Hygiene certificate.

About Rathmena House
Situated in the leafy suburbs of the market town of Ballyclare in East Antrim, the home is surrounded by attractive gardens and patio areas. The home is registered to offer nursing care and a small number of beds for residential care for up to 29 residents.
