About the role The VAT Accountant will be responsible for the preparation of domestic and overseas VAT returns relating to the UK ADV and UK&I GWS businesses. Supporting the VAT Compliance Manager and working closely with third party advisors, this role is crucial for ensuring accurate and timely VAT compliance obligations are met. What you will be doing: Preparation of UK VAT return for CBRE Ltd VAT group: - Running reports from Peoplesoft and ensuring IPE requirements are met - Obtaining any other reports/information pertinent to the VAT return e.g. transaction information relating to sub-let CBRE offices, details/supporting information relating to journals in the VAT account, obtaining postponed import VAT certificates etc - Performing agreed data checks to identify any anomalies to be investigated or adjusted in the return - Preparation of VAT return figures for review by VAT Compliance Manager - Preparation of VAT reconciliation related to the UK VAT accounts - Prepare payment requests Overseas VAT compliance related to CBRE Ltd: - Maintain up-to-date calendar/tracker identifying VAT compliance requirements and deadlines - Prepare VAT return data for overseas returns for provision to third party advisors or VAT Compliance Manager, as applicable, in accordance with agreed timeframes - Review prior period reconciliation to ensure any adjustments or additions are identified and included in the VAT return data, - Reconcile VAT return data to movement in general ledger to ensure all transactions have been identified - Ensure all communications and data files are saved to the relevant folders in a timely manner - Save filed VAT returns to the relevant folders in a timely manner - Provide data for Spanish SII reporting - Prepare payment requests Preparation of UK VAT return for GWS entities in UK and Ireland - Running reports from Peoplesoft and ensuring IPE requirements are met - Obtaining any other reports/information pertinent to the VAT return e.g. supporting information relating to journals in the VAT account, obtaining postponed import VAT certificates etc - Performing agreed data checks to identify any anomalies to be investigated or adjusted in the return - Preparation of VAT return figures for review by VAT Compliance Manager - Preparation of VAT reconciliation related to the UK VAT accounts - Request payment of VAT return Overseas Refund claims - Preparation of data packs for overseas refund claims - to include transaction reports and invoices What you will need: - Part qualification accountant or experience in VAT compliance experience - Strong attention to detail - Proficient in the use of finance systems and Excel. - Experience of VAT accounting and processes preferable - Proven ability to manage deadlines effectively - Self-motivated. Able to prioritise demands and make decisions under pressure. - Confidence to ask questions and to use initiative especially in dealing with areas of ambiguity.
