About the Business An opportunity to be an Assistant Commercial Accountant for a leading UK distribution company based in Solihull, who have low staff turnover and are dedicated to what they do. This role gives you an amazing opportunity to grow within a large business that operate all over the UK. Main Duties: As an Assistant Commercial Accountant, your main duties include: * Assist with month-end and quarter-end processes across European entities, ensuring all costs are accurately recorded and journals for accruals and prepayments are correctly posted. * Business partner with sales and commercial teams to interpret financial performance and provide clear, insightful analysis. * Contribute to the budgeting and forecasting process, providing relevant analysis and support. * Liaise with external partners to ensure compliance with payroll, audit, and reporting requirements. * Prepare overhead reports and analyse variances against budget and prior-year results. * Maintain accuracy in European sales data through consistent validation, reconciliation, and reporting * Assist with balance sheet reconciliations and associated documentation. * Deliver timely financial reports for business units in line with the reporting timetable. * Participate in regular stock audits to ensure accuracy and correct valuation. * Produce and analyse sales and volume reports to support business performance monitoring. * Manage queries relating to foreign currency transactions and reporting. * Support the ongoing improvement and development of internal processes and controls. * Provide assistance with ad hoc financial projects as required. * Support senior finance team members with key deliverables and initiatives. * Comply with company health and safety policies and contribute to maintaining a safe working environment. Location / Office / Culture The role offers hybrid working with 3 days in the contemporary office based in Solihull. You’ll be joining a supportive, people-centred team that works together to achieve great results. This is a fantastic opportunity for a hard-working candidate to progress in their career. What We Are Looking For The ideal candidate will have: * AAT qualified, studying towards CIMA, ACA or ACCA * A minimum of 2 years in a Finance role. * Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel * High level of IT literacy with the ability to quickly adapt to new systems and technologies. * Able to work effectively under pressure, managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
