We are excited to invite a dedicated Deputy Manager to join our established 4-bed home in Barnsley.
About the Role
As our Deputy Manager, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Registered Manager with the daily operations of the home. Your focus will be on delivering high-quality care while promoting the rights, wellbeing, and individual needs of each young person in accordance with our organizational policies.
Main Responsibilities
* Service and Practice Management:
o Ensure compliance with legislation, safeguarding requirements, and organizational policies.
o Maintain Health and Safety standards and ensure staff training is up to date.
o Support accurate record-keeping and contribute to quality assurance systems.
o Promote effective childcare practices and continuous improvement.
o Prepare for and participate in internal and external meetings.
o Provide on-call support and sleep-in cover as needed.
o Oversee documentation to maintain regulatory standards.
* Human Resource Management:
o Assist in the recruitment process and ensure safer recruitment checks are completed.
o Support staff induction, supervision, and appraisal processes.
o Facilitate staff development through mandatory training and CPD.
o Manage staff rotas and oversee expenses.
o Conduct investigations into complaints and disciplinary matters.
* Resource Management & External Relations:
o Monitor budgets and financial processes to ensure effective resource use.
o Report maintenance issues to keep the home safe and compliant.
o Represent the organization positively in all external interactions.
o Liaise with commissioners regarding placements and admissions.
What We’re Looking For
* Commitment to delivering high-quality care and education.
* Experience in leading or managing a team.
* Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection.
* Minimum Level 3 Children & Young People qualification.
* Level 5 Leadership & Management qualification or willingness to complete.
* Understanding of the needs of vulnerable young people.
* Ability to build effective relationships with young people and colleagues.
* Emotional resilience in challenging situations.
* Full UK driving licence and access to transport.
* Flexible, reliable, and committed to organizational development.
Working Conditions
This is a full-time, permanent position with a salary of up to £40,831.30 per annum (including sleep-in shifts and on-call payments). You will work 39 hours per week, with some office days required for administrative duties.
