Job Title: Deputy Manager – Children's Residential Home
Location: Bedford, Bedfordshire
Salary: £33,000-£36,500 per annum (dependent on experience and qualifications)
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Hours: 40 hours per week (and on-call duties)

The Role
As Deputy Manager, you will work closely with the Registered Manager to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the home. You will be a strong role model for the staff team, uphold high care standards, and play a key role in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the young people in our care.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in leading and managing a team
* Support the Registered Manager in meeting all regulatory and Ofsted requirements
* Ensure care plans are implemented and regularly reviewed
* Act as a positive role model and mentor to staff
* Help manage staffing rotas, budgets, and administration
* Participate in the on-call rota and provide shift cover when needed
* Build and maintain strong, trusting relationships with children, families, and professionals
* Promote independence, emotional resilience, and positive outcomes for young people
Requirements
* Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) – Essential
* Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management (or willingness to work towards)
* Minimum of 2 years' experience working in a children's residential setting
* Experience in a senior or supervisory role
* Excellent knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and Ofsted standards
* Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
* A genuine passion for supporting young people
* Full UK driving licence
