* Provide reassurance and support to patients and carers/family.
* Provide information to enable the effectiveness of care to be evaluated and records maintained.
* Report any concern regarding patient care.
* Be able to locate all policies relating to good working practice within the clinical area and able to adhere to them.
* At the direction of the registered nurse participate fully in the delivery of planned nursing care.
* Serve drinks and meals to patients and give assistance to those patients requiring help.
* Assist in bedmaking and the disposal of soiled linen.
* Chaperone patients as necessary.
* Undertake the recording of temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate and pulse oximetry, also fluid input and output, and report findings to the nurse in charge of patient care.
* Collect and test specimens as required and report abnormalities.
* Ensure safekeeping of patients' property and valuables within Trust guidelines.
* Work collaboratively with others in the ward to ensure that patients' needs are met.
* Be aware of your competence and acknowledge your own boundaries by asking for assistance as required.
* Recognize and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations.
