Assistant Nursing Practitioner – Ambulatory Emergency Care
Join NHS Highland as an Assistant Nursing Practitioner in the Ambulatory Emergency Care Unit at Cowal Community Hospital, Dunoon.
About the role
Argyll and Bute Health and Social Care Services help people from all walks of life and their families. The team includes Rural Emergency Physicians, Senior Change Nurses, Staff Nurses and a range of AHPs and Social Workers, working together to deliver A&E, day services, trauma, inpatient services and ambulatory emergency care. The Unit admits unwell patients directly from the community and the Emergency Department. This fast‑paced environment offers an opportunity to develop your clinical skills within an emergency care setting.
Responsibilities
* Support individuals to maintain independence at home, prevent unnecessary admission and aid recovery post‑hospital discharge.
* Provide high‑quality care in a fast‑paced ambulatory and emergency setting.
* Work effectively under pressure while maintaining excellent care values.
* Collaborate with the wider acute and community teams, including services within Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
* Manage shift patterns and rota requirements as per service needs.
Qualifications
* Completed a relevant qualification at SCQF level 7‑8, e.g. Higher National Certificate/Diploma (HNC/D) or Professional Development Award (PDA) at Level 8.
* Very good command of written and spoken English.
* IT skills and preferably experience in an acute healthcare setting.
Working Hours & Contract
Full‑time or part‑time hours are available, with fixed‑term and secondment options. Posts are 12 months, working 8am‑8pm on five days per week on a rota basis. Shift patterns may change with demand.
