An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Hygiene Supervisor to join a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This role plays a key part in maintaining high standards of hygiene, food safety, and environmental compliance across a busy production site.
You will be responsible for supervising hygiene operations across all factory areas and ensuring cleaning activities are completed effectively, safely, and in line with food safety standards.
The Role
Key responsibilities include:
* Supervising daily hygiene operations across production areas, facilities, and external site areas
* Leading and supporting a team of hygiene operatives and agency staff
* Ensuring hygiene plans and cleaning schedules are delivered effectively
* Carrying out hygiene inspections and audits across production, facilities, and site areas
* Supporting preparation for customer and regulatory audits, including announced and unannounced visits
* Monitoring pest control activity and following up on corrective actions
* Ensuring cleaning chemicals and equipment are used and stored correctly in line with COSHH requirements
* Supporting shutdown cleaning activities and ensuring documentation is completed accurately
* Liaising with engineering and production teams to coordinate equipment cleaning and strip-downs
* Maintaining hygiene records, reports, and KPI updates on internal systems
* Promoting strong health & safety and food safety practices across the hygiene operation
You will also step in to support or cover the Hygiene Manager when required.
About You
We are looking for someone with hygiene or sanitation supervisory experience within a food manufacturing or FMCG environment.
You will ideally have:
* Experience working in a food production or manufacturing environment
* Previous supervisory or team leader experience
* Knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards, and COSHH requirements
* Experience leading teams in a fast-paced operational environment
* Strong organisational and communication skills
* A hands-on approach with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet KPIs
* Basic computer literacy (Word, Excel, reporting systems)
