Hedsor Park is a 100-acre Buckinghamshire estate wrapped round the magnificent Hedsor House and Grade II listed gardens. It is famed for hosting unforgettable weddings and memorable events. We're looking for an experienced, hands-on Estate Groundskeeper / Gardener / Caretaker to live on site, care for the place like it's your own, and keep every vista wedding-photo ready.
Day-to-day, you'll handle estate and grounds care, family support, basic property repairs and first-response security. Woodland, parkland and a one-kilometre drive all need your steady eye and sharp shears. This role requires a reliable, trustworthy, and proactive individual with experience in estate maintenance and horticulture.
In return, you'll have accommodation on the estate, a 40-hour week with flex for the odd weekend, and the chance to leave a genuine mark on a historic landscape.
Responsibilities
* Vision delivery
– ensure the vision and goals of the estate are weaved into your daily tasks.
* Contribution to Improvements
– Offer input into garden development and landscape enhancements in line with the estate's long-term vision and design.
* Driveway Stewardship –
Take pride in and oversee the care of the 1km drive leading to Hedsor House, ensuring it remains visually striking and well-kept year-round.
* Lawn & Grounds Maintenance
– Mowing, topiary, hedge cutting, and general landscaping.
* Machinery Operation & Maintenance
– Handling agricultural and garden equipment.
* Woodland Management
– Tree care, logging, and brush clearance.
* Estate Upkeep
– Maintaining outdoor areas, pathways, and grounds.
* Basic Property Maintenance
– Fencing repairs and minor upkeep.
* Garden & Outdoor Features
– Caring for ornaments, furniture, and external installations.
* Contractor Liaison
– Coordinating external support and reporting issues.
* Security & Safety
– First response for estate security concerns.
* Family & Estate Support
– Providing dependable assistance where needed.
* House & Pet Sitting –
Provide house/pet care in the owner's absence, including occasional support with dogs and other animals.
Skills and attributes
* Experienced in property or land maintenance and management, ideally from a large estate, hotel grounds, or high-end horticultural background
* Knowledge and experience of horticulture and woodland management
* Confident with tools and equipment; able to work independently and take initiative.
* Experienced in using a tractor
* Willing to care for geese and cattle
* Comfortable living in close proximity to a family estate with high standards
* Friendly, trustworthy and proactive, with strong attention to detail
* A practical, positive, approach to work
* Emotionally intelligent with good social instincts
Essential requirements
* Certified in chainsaw use and spraying
* Full clean UK driving licence
