Civil / Structural Senior Engineer
Salary range: £50,000 to £70,000 per annum depending on experience
Location: Leatherhead, Bristol, Burton or Glasgow
Working Pattern: Flexible hybrid working pattern – split between office and home
About the Team
The Asset Integrity – Built Environment Group assures the safety of structures and assets, including extreme hazards. Our integrated team establishes load conditions, structural responses, design solutions, testing programmes, substantiations and assurance against hazards such as seismic, fire, blast and impact. Each project is unique; the team is collaborative and supportive, sharing knowledge openly.
What You’ll Do
You will lead delivery of projects and provide technical oversight in a range of industries, including nuclear energy, nuclear defence, renewables, process industries, transport, etc. Key responsibilities include:
* Structural verification and code assessments (Eurocode, ASCE, AISC) through software and hand calculations
* Hazard assessment and validation studies (seismic, blast, fire)
* Concept design and feasibility analysis
* Civil/mechanical/electrical interface definition and integration
* Beyond‑code assessments and safety case development
* Groundworks and geotechnical assessment
* Decommissioning and enabling works support
* Structural inspections and regulatory compliance
* Lifecycle extension studies and degradation analysis
* Manage and shape projects from scoping to delivery
* Engage with clients to define needs, develop relationships, and deliver consultancy
* Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team capability development
Who We’re Looking For
We welcome applicants with a broad range of experience levels. Minimum requirements:
* Chartership or higher with ICE, IStructE or related institution
* Experience on technically challenging, safety‑critical infrastructure projects
* Experience with client‑facing consultancy work and a network aligned to your specialism
* Collaborative growth mindset, willingness to mentor junior members
Beneficial additional experiences include:
* Code‑based assessment (Eurocode, ASCE, AISC)
* Use of structural tools (STAAD, ANSYS, ABAQUS, Robot)
* Seismic or dynamic structural analysis
* Impact/Blast/fire modelling and substantiation
* Hazard analysis and requirements capture
* Safety case documentation authoring/approval
* Geotechnical design or site assessments
* Inspection regimes and CDM compliance
* NEC/RIBA contract delivery and documentation drafting
* On‑site inspections and surveys
Additional Requirements
Candidates must be able to undergo pre‑employment screening and satisfy UK National Security Vetting clearance criteria.
