BASES (Before and After School Extended Services)
Part-Time Assistant Teacher, Located in Vogel Wetmore School, Torrington, CT
Job Description
EdAdvance is seeking a qualified applicant to work in the BASES (Before School Program) in Torrington. The qualified candidate will be professional, have experience working with elementary school-aged children, possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, and be available during before‑school hours (6:45 am‑8:45 am). Vogel Wetmore staff are encouraged to apply. The Assistant Teacher works under the supervision of the Site Coordinator and the BASES Administrative Team.
Major Responsibilities
* Assist the Site Coordinator in the operation of the before school program daily
* Supervise children and provide a safe, welcoming environment
* Maintain positive relationships with families, children, and school personnel
* Set up and clean up the program site
* First Aid/CPR/Meds Admin certification to be acquired within 3 months of hire
* Other duties as may be assigned
* Regular and consistent attendance is considered an essential function of this position
Qualifications
* Requires High School Diploma or equivalent, college coursework in ECE/ELED or related field preferred
* Experience working with School Aged Children
* Knowledge of Child Development
* Awareness of Age-Appropriate curriculum activities
* Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills
* Priority given to current Vogel Wetmore School Employees
Physical Requirements
* Must be able to stand for the entire shift and move through program space (indoor and outdoor) with students
