Lab Technician
Location: Darlaston, West Midlands
Overview:
We are currently recruiting an experienced Lab Technician to work for our client, a dynamic and innovative company operating in the battery recycling industry. Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Perform chemical analysis on environmental and production samples using wet chemical techniques and lab instrumentation.
2. Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot analytical equipment such as X-ray Fluorescence Spectroscopy, Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy, pH meters, Thermal analyzers, and ICP-OES.
3. Maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
4. Prepare reagents and standards.
5. Ensure organization and cleanliness of the laboratory.
6. Analyze data and prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders.
7. Assist in developing and updating SOPs and SWIs for instrumentation, methods, and processes.
8. Perform daily equipment checks, maintenance, and housekeeping tasks.
9. Support quality management, audits, and external assessments.
10. Implement and monitor risk management processes.
11. Collaborate with QC personnel and plant staff to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
12. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Experience:
* Degree in Physical Sciences (Chemistry, Physics, Biology) or Engineering, or equivalent education and experience.
* 3-5 years of laboratory experience preferred.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and Windows.
* Effective communication skills with managers, plant operators, and laboratory team members.
* Flexible and adaptable approach.
* Ability to meet deadlines with high accuracy and attention to detail.
* Willingness to improve understanding of plant operations and contribute to organizational strategies.
* Hardworking, reliable, and able to work independently.
* Technically proficient with strong reporting and presentation skills.
* Ensure compliance with safety procedures.
Salary & Benefits:
