WSP’s Land team is the largest and most experienced of its kind, with a long-standing presence across the UK, Ireland and India. We deliver the full lifecycle of infrastructure projects, from route selection, land referencing to acquisition, compensation and final project delivery. Our multi-disciplinary team supports clients in the energy, transport and development sectors to deliver faster, greener, fairer and better outcomes. The Land team brings together expertise in land mapping, surveying, engagement, valuation, land referencing, digital data management and project management. Through our Land Academy, we invest in our people to support their potential via professional routes such as RICS, RGS, APM and others. WSP’s Land team is seeking talented Land Consultants, at various levels, to join our Midlands, South and North teams in modern city centre offices in:
* Manchester and Leeds
* Birmingham
* London, Guildford and Cambridge
Associate Land Consultant
* Lead teams of technical specialists to direct the delivery of some of the UK’s most exciting projects on time, within budget and to high standards
* Be a trusted advisor to clients (externally and internally), manage key relationships and provide strategic project advice
* Advise on Land issues under relevant statutory processes to acquire land and land rights including DCOs, TWAOs, CPOs and hybrid Bills as well as wayleaves
* Lead quality assurance of deliverables related to identification of land interests and rights, negotiation of access for surveys, and acquisition of land rights for large-scale infrastructure
* Lead delivery and development of technical training
* Develop efficient working practices and promote innovation to provide value to clients
* Ensure the team has the necessary skills and resources to deliver successful projects
* Play an active role in the growth of the business across relevant sectors
* Promote adherence to WSP H&S procedures and standards
* Manage, motivate, mentor and develop professional colleagues
* Contribute to the delivery of the business strategy
* Collaborate with other WSP disciplines to optimise service to our client portfolio
* Support the writing of bids/tenders to secure opportunities
* UK travel
What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate
* Successfully lead a team of land consultants to deliver land referencing or land assembly services on infrastructure projects to programme and budget
* Detailed knowledge of statutory requirements (DCOs, TWAOs, CPOs, hybrid Bills) or wayleaving
* Evidence of leading teams to deliver complex work
* Experience providing technical guidance and advice to clients and building strong relationships
* Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills; ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders
* Confidence to promote services internally and externally
* Highly motivated with an excellent industry network
* Experience in infrastructure development, land referencing and property-related practices
* Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams
* Negotiation experience with landowners and knowledge of acquiring wayleaves and easements
* Demonstrable experience reducing land risk for clients across project lifecycles
* Good business and IT skills
* A degree in Geography, Agriculture, Land or Estate Management or similar
* Chartership or professional membership is advantageous
* A full driving licence is essential
Senior Land Consultant
* Manage project delivery of statutory processes for acquisition of land and land rights (DCO, TWAO, CPO, hybrid Bills, wayleaves)
* Project management of land projects on time, within budget and to high standards
* Ensure H&S procedures are adhered to for all site work
* Negotiation of Heads of Terms to secure land or land rights
* Stakeholder and landowner liaison, plus engagement with land agents, legal representatives and planning authorities
* Collaborate with Land team and other WSP disciplines
* Manage and develop a team of early-career professionals with training and career development
* Contribute to business development and strategy
* UK travel
What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate
* Degree or equivalent in Geography, Land or Estate Management or similar
* Experience delivering land referencing, land access, and statutory processes on infrastructure projects
* Experience negotiating with landowners; knowledge of wayleaves/easements/servitudes desirable
* Experience with multi-disciplinary teams
* Proven ability to develop land-related orders and consents
* Strong interpersonal, influencing and negotiating skills
* Knowledge of rural environments and farming practices desirable
* Chartership or professional membership advantageous
* A full driving licence is essential
Land Consultant
* Land referencing activities, including online land registry searches, desktop research and archival investigations to identify land interests and rights
* Consultation with landowners to confirm land details and obtain survey access
* Document consultation notes and upload to our system
* Coordinate with land agents, legal representatives, planning authorities and stakeholders
* Adhere to WSP H&S procedures for site work
* Prepare orders and processes to acquire land and land rights; negotiate wayleaves and Heads of Terms
* Collaborate with Land team and other WSP disciplines
* Mentor junior members of the Land team
* UK travel
What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate
* Degree or equivalent in Geography, Land or Estate Management or related
* Experience delivering land referencing and land access services on infrastructure projects
* Experience negotiating with landowners; knowledge of acquiring wayleaves/easements desirable
* Experience with multi-disciplinary teams
* Experience developing Orders and/or obtaining consents and land interests
* Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
* Knowledge of rural environments and farming practices desirable
* Professional membership advantageous
* A full driving licence is essential
