Divided Culture Co.
Producer
Posted: 16h ago
Offer description

Divided Culture Co. is a contemporary theatre company based in Manchester, UK. We take a place-based approach to creation, foregrounding community and young people in our work. Established in 2021 and led by Creative Director Connor Goodwin, we are multi-award winning - making new, form and style-pushing work across the North of England and beyond.

This is a key moment of transformation for us. Founded by two artists with a real passion for breaking down barriers and rewriting assumptions, we're landing at our 5th birthday. We're growing our funding pipeline, deepening community relationships and forging a new, recognisable artistic identity - and we're looking for a stand-out Producer to help us make another five years possible.

About this role

This is a hybrid producing and development role, spanning both fundraising and operational functions - reflecting where we are in our journey as a company. It is part-time and interim, designed to be sensible and measured with the resources we have, while meeting our ambitious targets for the years ahead.

Crucially, this Producer is coming on board to focus on 2027 and beyond. Our 2026 programme is confirmed and being managed with existing resources. This recruitment is a deliberate and strategic move - to build the foundations for more site-specific, contemporary work with a European appeal. The Producer role sits firmly in operations and theatre output. Our creative engagement will continue to be led by the Creative Director, and from 2027 we anticipate a new team member joining to support that strand of work.

The Producer will work closely and collaboratively with Connor, acting not just as a delivery resource but as a genuine partner - pushing back, bringing ideas, and helping shape the company's direction. They will also work coherently and critically with the Board, contributing to governance and organisational thinking at the right moments.

Your Responsibilities

* Lead on funding applications to trusts, foundations and public funders - picking up an active and well-developed pipeline including long-standing relationships with Arts Council England, regular foundations and donors.
* Build and steward relationships with key funders at both local (Greater Manchester) and national level.
* Contribute to the company's strategic thinking around long-term sustainability and growth, particularly looking ahead to 2027.

Production & Operations

* Support the production and delivery of our theatre work.
* Provide operational oversight of productions from funding through to completion - managing timelines, budgets and key relationships.
* Build and maintain partnerships with local authorities, community organisations and arts venues.

Team & Culture

* Provide mentorship and guidance to our Marketing & Communications Intern, supporting their development within the organisation.
* Contribute to a collaborative, values-led working culture that reflects the company's ethos.

Who You Are

You're an experienced producer with a genuine track record. You've successfully managed several projects from funding through to completion, and you know what good looks like at every stage. Perhaps you've worked at NPO or NGO level and are ready for a different kind of challenge: to be part of something young, to contribute to a journey rather than manage an established institution.

You have strong relationships with funders at both a Greater Manchester and national level, and you're part of the conversation in the culture sector. You understand the risks, pressures and shifts in the industry - and you know how to navigate them. You're a great communicator, and everything you do is underpinned by clear values and principles.

Specifically, you will have:

* A proven track record securing and managing funding from large-scale funding sources. This may be Arts Council England or other NGOs, trusts/foundations.
* Experience producing theatre projects operationally, from development through to delivery.
* Strong existing relationships across the Greater Manchester cultural landscape.
* Confidence working across both grassroots community settings and more formal institutional partnerships.
* A commitment to accessibility and arts that genuinely serve under-represented communities.
* The ability to work independently and manage your own time within a part-time, portfolio context.
* Experience in non-theatre contexts and site-specific performance.
* An understanding of the European and International landscape.

Why Divided Culture Co.

You will join a company with genuine ambition, a strong and growing network of partners, at one of its most exciting moments - and you'll get to shape what comes next. You'll be working with friends and partners across the region including CONTACT Theatre, Bolton Octagon, SEESAW, Creatives Now CIC and so many more!

This is a role designed to work around an existing portfolio career. It is genuinely flexible, and if things go well, we want this to be the start of a longer relationship. We already have funding in progress to make this a permanent role after the six months.

Diversity is a huge part of our ethos. We value difference in all forms and actively welcome applications from everyone, regardless of perceived barrier. We are a Living Wage Employer and Disability Confident. Our history is made up of so many different backgrounds, experiences and interests, so come as you are. If you'd like to discuss the role informally before applying, please get in touch.

* Flexible Working: We have a hybrid approach to working. Core hours are 09:00–17:00, Monday to Friday. We welcome a conversation about splitting your contracted hours in a way that suits your work-life balance.
* Wellbeing: As Resident Company of SEESAW, we benefit from on-site Yoga every Wednesday, alongside regular networking and free enrichment activities on-site.
* Discounts: 25% off drinks at the Café at SEESAW, and 10% off at RAMYUM Korean Street Food.
* Training: Regular opportunities for professional and personal development.
* Cycle to Work: Free, secure on-site bike storage, with gender-neutral showers and accessible toilets throughout the building.
* Free Tickets: Complimentary tickets to all Divided Culture Co. events and productions.
* CPD & Industry Events: Invitations to events across Greater Manchester and the wider sector, alongside the Creative Director. Recent events have included Beyond Conference, Business Growth Hub @ Campfield, The Stage Theatre Conference, and IETM.
