Assistant Building Surveyor – Brighton
Residential & Public Sector Focus | Up to £40,000 + APC Support
A respected multidisciplinary consultancy in Brighton is looking for an ambitious Assistant Building Surveyor to join their team. With a strong client base across the residential and public sectors, this is an excellent opportunity to gain broad project exposure and progress your career towards chartership.
The role offers hands-on experience across a wide range of professional and project-based surveying services. You'll work alongside senior surveyors on everything from defect diagnosis to contract administration and new-build projects—ideal for someone looking to build a well-rounded foundation and achieve MRICS status.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out building surveys, site inspections, and defect analysis
* Support the delivery of refurbishment, maintenance, and new-build projects
* Assist in preparing schedules of work, specifications, and technical reports
* Work with clients, contractors, and consultants throughout project delivery
* Contribute to contract administration and procurement processes
* Monitor project budgets and timelines
* Ensure compliance with current building regulations and health & safety standards
Requirements
* RICS-accredited degree in Building Surveying
* Ideally currently enrolled on your APC
* At least a year's worth of experience in a building surveying role (including placements)
* Strong communication and report-writing skills
* Eager to progress and work towards chartered status
* Organised, proactive, and able to work both independently and within a team
* Full UK driving licence
