Job Description:
This role involves frequent travel primarily within the southern part of the region, from Scunthorpe to Northampton and Peterborough, with Wisbech centrally located.

Our Electrical Power & Cooling Engineers are vital in maintaining BT’s networks, ensuring 24/7 operation across various environments, including exchange buildings, radio sites, rooftops, and outdoors. They utilize expertise in Low and High Voltage systems, generators, emergency lighting, cooling, alarms, and UPS systems. This role involves supporting the network's reliability, meeting SLAs, and taking ownership of electrical and cooling systems, with opportunities for technical training and development.
As part of the role, you will contribute to out-of-hours callouts through a formal on-call framework, typically a 1 in 4 rotation, supporting 24x7 service. A full UK manual driver’s license is required.
What you'll do
Key Decisions:
* Identify & report HSE/Compliance/Design issues proactively.
* Own designated patches and sites to meet regional objectives.
* Share best practices and support colleagues.
* Manage critical network repair, provision, and maintenance activities.
* Coordinate work with patch managers and senior staff.
* Conduct risk assessments for health and safety.
* Report issues and risks to senior staff for action.
* Proactively develop skills and improve work processes.
* Ensure compliance with health surveillance and wear corporate clothing.
What you'll bring
Ability to fulfill physical requirements, including bending, stretching, kneeling, crouching, climbing, working at various heights, lifting heavy objects, and recognizing wiring colors.
Mandatory experience/qualifications:
* Electrical competency City & Guilds 2360 parts 1+2 or equivalent NVQ/industry qualification.
* BTEC Electrical Engineering Level 3/HNC/HND/MOET Level 3/ET Level 3 or equivalent.
* Full UK manual Driving Licence.
Preferred experience/qualifications:
* 18th Edition Regulations or current electrical regulations.
* Experience with Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS).
* F-GAS category 1 certification.
* Experience with Air Conditioning Split systems and DC power systems.
* Coaching, mentoring, or supervisory experience.
