Clinical Lead for ADHD Primary Care Connect Crawley

This is a rapidlyevolving service which currently supports patients who are eligible for ADHDAssessment, Diagnosis and Treatment in Crawley.

The post holderwill provide Clinical Leadership to the ABC ADHD Service in Crawley, WestSussex.

Main duties of the job

The post holderwill need to build relationships with other clinicians, providers across thefootprint of the service, accommodation providers, and national organisations.The post holder should also work clinically in the service to ensure first-handexperience of the delivery model.

They will be supported by the Head of Service, Lead Nurse, ServiceManager & Medical Director as well as the ABC Quality Assurance and PeopleTeam to ensure that our clinical services run effectively, safely and provideexcellent quality of care.

Supervision

Regular supervisions on a one-to-one basis including anannual formal appraisal will be held with a line manager. If you are in apatient-facing role, you will also receive regular Clinical Supervisions with aClinical Supervisor.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will:

  • Lead clinical delivery for the serviceincluding the potential for expansion of the service across West Sussex withmultiple locations
  • Support the development of the ADHD team,including identifying and addressing knowledge gaps through educational andtraining activities
  • Work closely with the Service Manager toidentify needs of the interprofessional team including nurses and mental healthexperts, to further strengthen the team and service delivery
  • Keep up to date withnational updates for ADHD and be able to rapidly translate national guidanceinto local delivery
  • Bring knowledge, experience and clinicalleadership to the team particularly around specific health needs of the ADHDpopulation
  • Identify and develop new pathways to enhancepatient care for this population across the footprint of the service i.e. bybuilding relationships with key stakeholders such as SCFT, mental healthproviders, local practices, third sector organisations
  • Ensure cascading of clinical information bothwithin the ADHD service, and also to external partners such as GP practices,ICBs, and national organisations
  • Understand, identify and respond tosafeguarding issues specific to the population and setting
  • Conduct and oversee audits to ensure clinicalKPIs for the service are being measured and met
  • Share best practice in providing healthcarefor ADHD patients, regionally and nationally i.e. via presentations and papers
  • Support the Head of Service in evolving theservice in line with our current strategy
  • Work alongside the Service Manager to developplacement opportunities for learners in the service
  • Assist with health needs queries frompartners such as those working in the voluntary sector
  • Provide a clinical presence and insight atboth internal meetings, and on behalf of the organisation at external meetingsrelevant to the role i.e. with local ICBs, SCFT, national partners
  • Provide clinical oversight of the service
  • Provide support to local practices who referpatients and whom patients are discharged to i.e. through training events,regular practice meetings
  • Respond to complaints and clinical incidentswithin the service, and implement service improvements as a result

Skills and Abilities

  • Patient focused and treat all patients with dignity and respect
  • Ability to work independently and to use initiative to develop and evolve services for the benefit of patients
  • Interest in working with ADHD population
  • Ability to motivate a team
  • Ability to communicate effectively in challenging situations
  • Knowledge of specific health needs of ADHD patients
  • Knowledge and expertise in medication management of ADHD patients
  • Awareness of specific communication needs of this population e.g. impact on work/housing
  • Awareness of need to liaise with local practices

Qualifications

  • Hold CCT
  • On GP performers list
  • UKAAN Diagnosis and Assessment of Adults with ADHD
  • UKAAN Pharmacological treatment for Adults with ADHD
  • 5 years+ post CCT experience
  • Additional qualification relevant to this role

Experience

  • Clinical experienced in ADHD assessment, diagnosis and treatment
  • Demonstrable clinical leadership experience with the ability to lead, motivate and support a diverse clinical team
  • Medication management and prescribing pathways
  • Experience working within clinical governance frameworks
  • Experience of working within West Sussex
  • Clinical leadership of a team including decision making in mental health clinical scenarios
  • Designing and developing new patient services and pathways
  • Identifying and addressing patient safety issues
  • Clinical Supervision of an multi-disciplinary team including GPs, nurses, pharmacists or mental health workers
  • IT Clinical systems (S1, Heidi)
  • Identifying and responding to safeguarding concerns
