The Stephen Longfellow Academy is seeking to recruit an inspirational colleague for the role of Student Welfare Officer. This role is crucial to our Academy's operations, with the successful candidate expected to deliver short-term, evidence-based interventions while flexibly addressing the needs and wellbeing of students.
Requirements:
* A relevant Level 3 qualification or willingness to work towards it.
* A patient and resilient attitude, with the ability to maintain calm under pressure.
* Experience working with students who exhibit challenging behaviour.
The Stephen Longfellow Academy is part of The GORSE Academies Trust, a nationally renowned, not-for-profit charity committed to creating exceptional schools. Our founder and CEO, Sir John Townsley, is passionate about providing the highest standard of educational experiences for all children, regardless of background.
We offer both exceptional education and therapeutic services. Students are taught national curriculum subjects and have access to therapeutic services such as counselling, delivered both as part of the timetable and in discrete groups or on a 1:1 basis. Our therapeutic and nurturing approach helps students build confidence and self-esteem, enabling successful integration into their learning environment and the wider community.
Our aim is to develop personalised learning programmes that meet the needs of vulnerable young people, providing opportunities similar to those in mainstream schools, so students can graduate as confident young adults ready for further education, training, or employment. We work closely with families and partnering schools to provide interventions for students struggling to maintain a full-time place in mainstream education, supporting them to achieve their goals and ambitions.
We are committed to providing outstanding pastoral care, support, and guidance. We seek candidates who believe that anything is possible. Working in our academy is demanding but rewarding, and we offer professional development and the support of The GORSE Academies Trust.
If successful, you will benefit from a comprehensive benefits package, including:
* Membership of a teacher or local government pension scheme.
* Investment in your professional development.
* Access to an Employee Assistance Programme offering confidential support 24/7.
* Discounts at major retailers.
* £2,000 Cycle to Work scheme.
We look forward to receiving your application.
